What is Athletic Training?: This is a link to the NATA (National Athletic Training Association) website.

Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. AT your own risk: “A safer approach to work, life, and sport”- This website gives insight to what Athletic Trainers can do in all different settings, as well as help the public to know better how to be safe from injury.

 


What to do in case of an injury? (ankle injury, knee injury, Foot injury, elbow injury, etc.)

Rest- Just like it says. Take some time to let the body part heal.

Ice- 20 minutes on/ 40 minutes off, you can do up to 3 rounds in a row or throughout the day.

Compression- Wrap the area with an elastic cloth bandage.

Elevation- Keep the body part above the heart. Laying down with the foot/leg above your head/heart is another attempt to decrease swelling and increase healing.
